Library Policies
Inter-Library Lending
St Mary’s
University College (STMU) Library will process Inter-library
loans (ILL) from other insitutions and libraries with the
following conditions:
- St Mary’s will only process Interlibrary
Loan requests from libraries that are outside of Calgary;
and
- Requests from local libraries will not
be fulfilled; patrons from local libraries need to come
to St Mary’s and sign out the materials with either
their Student Card (Consortium libraries) or a lending
card from The Alberta Library
(TAL).

Monographs
- Only items falling into the definite
loan period category will be lent out for interlibrary
loan. Items sent for interlibrary loan must have a loan
period of at least two weeks.
- Only monographs will be loaned
- VHS tapes, DVDs, periodicals and other forms
of media or publication
formats (other than monographs) will not be loaned out.
- The loan period will be three weeks from date
of mailing.
- No renewals are possible.
- Items returned from the borrowing library late
(past the 3 week time),
may be assessed a fine.
Serials
- Journal Articles can be requested
for document delivery (photocopied)
only. Physical print journals cannot be lent.
Not Available for ILL Lending
The following materials are not available
for inter-library lending
- Videos/DVDS
- General Reserve, Closed Reserve
- Reference Books
