VCAH does not have its own database, but conducts simultaneous searches in a number of web catalogues. DESCRIPTION: WoRMS, part of an effort to catalogue all species of life in the oceans, has defined over 270,124 taxonomies, validated 144,231 species, 216,360 species names (including synonyms), and 10,197 images. Its aim is to provide an authoritative and comprehensive list of names of marine organisms, including information on synonymy. WoRMS is a contribution to Species2000 and the Catalogue of Life, and will serve as the taxonomic backbone of OBIS and has been accepted as one of the four GBIF campaigns.

DESCRIPTION: Worldmapper contains over 600 maps, with associated information and PDF 'poster' files. This includes country cartograms containing of 171 maps showing a population grid for each covered territory/region projected. Map and data files cover 200 territories, mostly United Nation member states to cover over 90% of the world's population. Worldmapper is published under a Creative Commons licence.
